# Is My VPN Working?

*Live tool: in a browser this page shows the connection of whoever opens it. Below: what it checks and the answers it gives.*

### How to test your VPN

1. Turn your VPN **off** and open this page. Note the address and provider.
2. Turn your VPN **on**, connect to a server in another country and reload.
3. The address, provider and country should change, WebRTC should show no leak, and the last-visit check should show the old address.

### What the checks mean

**Address type:** VPN servers sit in datacenters, homes don't. If sites still see your home or mobile provider, your traffic isn't going through the VPN.

**WebRTC leak:** the video-call feature built into browsers can reveal your real address to a site even when a VPN is on. [Full WebRTC test](https://whoseesmyip.com/webrtc-leak-test).

**Time zone match:** your browser tells sites its clock. A clock in New York with an address in Amsterdam is a hint you're on a VPN. Some streaming and shopping sites use it.
