How to test your VPN

  1. Turn your VPN off and open this page. Note the address and provider.
  2. Turn your VPN on, connect to a server in another country and reload.
  3. The address, provider and country should change, WebRTC should show no leak, and the last-visit check should show the old address.

What the checks mean

Address type: VPN servers sit in datacenters, homes don't. If sites still see your home or mobile provider, your traffic isn't going through the VPN.

WebRTC leak: the video-call feature built into browsers can reveal your real address to a site even when a VPN is on. Full WebRTC test.

Time zone match: your browser tells sites its clock. A clock in New York with an address in Amsterdam is a hint you're on a VPN. Some streaming and shopping sites use it.
